Brisbane is the third most populous city in Australia, yet somehow has a much more laid back feel than Sydney and Melbourne. This could perhaps be something to do with the weather – with average temperatures of over 20° even in the winter months, it’s not a great idea to be rushing around. In fact, Brisbane is a great place to head for from June to September, when the weather is much drier and the weather is much nicer than the more southerly cities. Brisbane has a fantastic performing arts scene, possibly the best in all of Australia, with the primary base of the action being in and around the South Bank. This is the home of the Queensland Performing Arts Centre, the Queensland Ballet, Opera Queensland, the Queensland Orchestra and the Queensland Theatre Company. Many other top Brisbane attractions also revolve around art and culture, including the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art, the Queensland Art Gallery and the Brisbane Powerhouse. There are of course lots of outdoor attractions in Brisbane too, including the City Botanic Gardens and Brisbane Forest Park. If you’re a nature lover you can cuddle an Australia icon at the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, or get an adrenaline rush by climbing the city’s Story Bridge. Here at Attractions Australia, we bring you information on all the best attractions Brisbane has to offer.
