Darwin, the capital of the Northern Territory, has plenty of attractions and things to do, which will be much welcomed by visitors who have made the long trek from Adelaide or the East Coast.

Darwin experiences a tropical climate, and is much smaller than any of the other state capitals from across Australia despite being the largest city in the Northern Territory. The city has been re-built twice, as a result of firstly the Japanese bombings during the Second World War, and then Cyclone Tracy back in 1974. This means that the city features a bizarre mix of older colonial buildings located right next to brand spanking new developments.

Being located so far from the main hub of Australia’s population, Darwin generally has to find ways to entertain itself, and it succeeds very well, with events and festivals of different kinds held throughout the year.
