Hobart is the only truly urban development on the island, and is the state capital of Tasmania. Although this is one of the smallest cities in Australia, the amount of attractions Tasmania has to offer tourists may come as a pleasant surprise. In addition to several various museums and galleries, Tasmania also has a strong live music scene and is great for a night out. There are also various festivals held throughout the year, and something going on during most summer weekends.
